A popular dining destination

Built in the 1500s during the reign of Henry VIII, the Bell in Smarden is a popular dining destination on the outskirts of the historic village of Smarden, promising food and drink fit for a King - with freshly prepared dishes served up alongside local ales and lagers from Faversham’s Shepherd Neame.

Charming and traditional

It’s a charming and traditional country village pub, picture perfect both inside and out. Tumbling hanging baskets and a Kentish peg-tiled roof greet your arrival, while there are three separate cosy bar areas comprising oak beams and flagstone floors waiting just across the threshold.

There’s a large garden - the perfect place to enjoy an alfresco ale or two in the summer. There's also an outside champagne bar which is available for private hire.

Dining

Traditional country fare, freshly prepared from fine seasonal ingredients, makes The Bell one of the area’s finest pubs for food.

Choose from delicious and comforting dishes like lamb shank in a red wine jus with creamy mash, or try one of our amazing seafood dishes including seabass, calamari, and king prawns - all cooked fresh to order.

There’s a selection of lighter bites, such as creamy stilton mushrooms or baked camembert, and on Sundays there’s a sumptuous traditional roast; a great place to enjoy with all the family.
